As everyone knows, a new set of Disney Lorcana means tons of new cards, promo, events and products to enjoy. Among those, the one I am always excited for is the Illumineer's Trove. The Trove has been one of the staples products of Disney Lorcana since the very first set, and has become the one I cannot miss when a set releases!
As usual, the team at Ravensburger have been super kind and shared the new one from Hyperia City ahead of the set release on the 16th of October. Hyperia City will bring new interesting mechanics and characters to Disney Lorcana, so I am very curious to see what the Trove will bring to the game. Let's unbox it and see what surprises are waiting for us!
The music, it's not just in me, it is me - Contents
Hyperia City Illumineer's Trove is designed to provide players with everything they need to start collecting and playing the 14th Disney Lorcana set. The 8 Booster packs included will provide a total of 96 new cards, with each pack featuring 6 commons, 3 uncommons, 2 rares or above, and a foil card of any rarity for a total of 12 cards. In addition, each pack includes either one card of a new nine-piece puzzle, or an Ink drop counter. The new puzzle art for Hyperia City matches the main artwork of the set (the one you can see on a Booster box) and it is horizontal, similar to the one we recently had in Winterspell. The Ink drop counter card can either be one of the two variants, or a sort of Lore card inviting Illumineers into Hyperia City to meet Powerline and Gazelle and to explore the location of the “Greenway”. Remember this card is an alternative to the Lore counter and the puzzle art card, so you may need to open some packs to find it.
Together with the boosters packs, the Trove also features six cardboard dividers, six damage-counter dice and one lore tracker themed around the set. In this case, the dice are cream with golden glitters and golden numbers, while the Lore tracker is obviously shaped like an Ink Drop. The six card dividers are, as always, double sided: one side shows a notable characters from the franchises featured in the set, while the other shows the Ink colour of that Characters and tons of colourful confetti. I like this particular detail as it reminds me of the description of the city you can find on Disney Lorcana Global website (“Music and art bring these animated streets to life”).
Where Metro meets the Fantastical - Final Thoughts
As always, the Illumineer's Trove remains one of the best products you can pick up in any Disney Lorcana set. I like how well designed the accessories are and the effort the team put into varying them from set to set. while also keeping them exciting. I remember I bought my first trove mainly for the eight packs and then I thought I would use it to store my Lorcana spares. However, I was so happy about it that I kept buying one for every set as they are just too good to be missed.
Fourteen sets after, I can proudly showcase a very colourful collection of Troves on my shelves. They are actually filled with a full play set of commons and uncommons for each set (that I keep for Poorcana decks) together with all the spare puzzle cards I got from opening packs or that have been gifted to me by my friends. I know other Illumineers use the trove in different ways proving how flexible and handy the empty Trove can be.
In my case, I also have to say a big thanks to Ravensburger for sharing these products with me, giving me the opportunity to review them ahead of the release. If you haven't already, make sure to pre-order your Illumineer's Trove and if you do from Zatu, please also share your thoughts and the amazing cards you pulled by tagging @zatugames on social media.
