Scarborough has a new spot for board game fans, and it comes with an adorable capybara twist! Stay Cappy, an independent board game café at 19 York Place, brings together tabletop games, Japanese-inspired food, and a relaxed atmosphere.
Game on!
The café offers a library of 100+ board games, giving visitors plenty of options whether you’re after a quick family game or something a little more strategic. The idea is to create a space where people can take their time, grab a game, and settle in for a few hours of fun.
And if you’re wondering where the name comes from, there’s a pretty wholesome reason!
The team chose the capybara because the animals are known for being calm, friendly, and sociable. That helped shape the café’s laid-back identity, with “Stay Cappy” combining capybara and happy!
Grab a bite!
You can’t concentrate on your next big move on an empty stomach! Stay Cappy has a menu packed with Japanese-inspired treats and easy-to-eat comfort food.
Expect options including tamagoyaki, Japanese cheesecake, prawn cake, Japanese curry rice, udon dishes, and sandwiches. There’s also a solid selection of coffee, tea, matcha, iced drinks, sodas and seasonal specials.
Stay cappy!
The whole idea is refreshingly simple: good games, good food and somewhere comfortable to hang out. The café also offers reservations, making it easy to plan a gaming session with friends.
With its capybara-inspired theme and sizeable game collection, Stay Cappy could be a fun new destination for Scarborough’s tabletop crowd! Now, who’s bringing the snacks?
