The Pokémon Trading Card Game could be getting a little more romantic next year! According to reports from Pokémon TCG news site PokéBeach, The Pokémon Company is preparing its first-ever Valentine’s Day-themed Pokémon TCG release for January 2027. The set has not been officially announced yet, so there are still plenty of details we don’t know, but it could give collectors a very different kind of Pokémon product to look forward to. PokéBeach reports that the release is currently scheduled for January 27, 2027, putting it just a couple of weeks before Valentine’s Day. If the reports are accurate, it would also continue The Pokémon Company’s growing range of seasonal Pokémon TCG products.
A Valentine’s Day twist!
Rather than being a full-sized expansion like the regular Pokémon TCG sets, the Valentine’s Day release is reportedly expected to follow a format similar to Trick or Trade. The Halloween-themed Pokémon TCG product launched as a collection of small booster packs designed to be handed out during Halloween. The set contained 30 cards, with plenty of Ghost and Dark-type Pokémon making appearances. The cards themselves weren’t exclusive to the product, but each featured a special pumpkin Pikachu stamp. A Valentine’s Day release could follow the same basic idea, potentially giving fans a smaller collection of cards with a unique anniversary-style stamp. Exactly what that stamp will look like is currently unknown. A pink Pikachu would certainly fit the occasion, though!
Expect some familiar faces
There’s also plenty of room for The Pokémon Company to have some fun with the Pokémon included. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but a Valentine’s Day product would naturally lend itself to Pokémon associated with friendship, romance, and affection. Pink Pokémon, Psychic-types and plenty of cute Pokémon could all be potential candidates. One thing we probably won’t be seeing is Fairy-type cards, despite the type being an obvious fit for the theme. Fairy-type Pokémon exist in the games, of course, but the Pokémon TCG has folded the Fairy type into Psychic since the type was discontinued in the card game. That leaves plenty of options for a suitably pink collection without needing to bring Fairy-type cards back.
Small packs, big appeal?
If the product does follow the Trick or Trade formula, it could also be designed with sharing in mind. The Halloween product was particularly suited to giving cards to other people, and a Valentine’s Day version could take that idea in a similar direction. Small packs could potentially be paired with Valentine’s cards or given to friends and other collectors. There’s no confirmation yet on exactly how the product will be packaged or distributed, however, so those details will have to wait for an official announcement. The potential release is also interesting because seasonal products can give collectors something outside the main Pokémon TCG release schedule to chase.
When is it coming?
PokéBeach reports that the Valentine’s Day Pokémon TCG product will release on January 27, 2027. That date has not been officially confirmed by The Pokémon Company, so it’s worth treating it as a reported release date for now. There’s still plenty of Pokémon TCG action to come before then, too. The game’s 30th anniversary celebrations are continuing through the end of 2026, with more products arriving before the year wraps up. A Rayquaza-themed release is also reportedly scheduled for November. The Valentine’s Day product would then kick off 2027 with something a little different.
Love is in the cards!
There’s still a lot we don’t know about the reported release, but the idea of a dedicated Valentine’s Day Pokémon TCG product is certainly an interesting one. If it follows the Trick or Trade model, fans could be looking at a smaller seasonal collection packed with reprints, special stamps, and Pokémon chosen to fit the occasion rather than another huge expansion with hundreds of cards. For now, though, we’ll have to wait for The Pokémon Company to make things official. Until then, keep an eye out for more information as we get closer to 2027! And if a pink Pikachu stamp does turn up, you already know collectors are going to go absolutely feral for it.
