Monopoly just got a Star Wars upgrade

A familiar little green passenger is about to take over family game night.

Hasbro has officially pulled back the curtain on MonopolyStar Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu Edition, a new version of the classic board game that trades houses and hotels for bounty hunters, galactic locations, and movie-inspired missions. It’s launching as a Walmart exclusive this June - and it’s clearly aiming straight at Star Wars fans who can’t resist a themed tabletop release.

Galaxy Tour

This latest crossover takes inspiration from The Mandalorian and Grogu film, transforming the traditional Monopoly board into a tour across locations from the movie.

Players won’t be snapping up Mayfair or Park Lane this time around. Instead, they’ll travel through familiar corners of the galaxy, exploring places like The Hutt Palace and Gatori’s Cabin while attempting to push back the Imperial remnant.

The more locations players control, the more credits they can collect from opponents, keeping the overall structure recognisably Monopoly even with the sci-fi makeover.

Mission Cards

One of the bigger changes comes through the game’s mission system.

Every time players pass GO, they’ll receive a mission card tied to moments from the film. Completing those objectives before the game ends unlocks bonus credits, giving players a little more to think about than simply circling the board and collecting rent.

There are also dedicated Mando & Grogu cards mixed into the deck, alongside Misfortune cards designed to throw unexpected problems into the game at the worst possible moment.

It sounds like a fairly light rules twist overall, but enough to make this version feel slightly different from a straight reskin.

New Tokens

Naturally, there’s also a fresh set of themed player pieces.

The game includes six Star Wars-inspired plastic tokens, including Mando’s helmet, a jet pack, the Razor Crest, Grogu’s hover pram, a Mouse Droid, and an Anzellan ship.

Honestly, themed tokens are usually one of the best parts of these crossover editions, and this set feels pretty solid for collectors alone.

The board itself also leans heavily into film artwork and imagery, giving it a much more cinematic look compared to standard Monopoly releases.

Family Focus

Like most modern themed editions, this version seems designed more around casual family play than hardcore strategy.

The game supports 2–6 players and keeps the familiar roll-and-move structure intact, making it approachable for younger Star Wars fans while still offering enough themed extras to catch the attention of longtime collectors.

And while there’s certainly no shortage of Star Wars board games already out there, Monopoly crossovers continue to have a weird amount of staying power - especially when tied to newer films and characters.

Grogu alone probably guarantees this thing ends up on plenty of shelves.

Release Details

Monopoly – Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu Edition is currently available for pre-order ahead of its June release.

The game will launch as a Walmart exclusive and is priced at around $25.

For anyone already planning a summer filled with Star Wars merchandise, this probably won’t be the last themed release headed their way - but it may end up being one of the easiest to get to the table.
