Something big is stirring beneath the surface of Necromunda!
Games Workshop has revealed that the fan-favourite skirmish game is entering a brand-new edition, bringing updated rules, a fresh starter box, and a range of new products designed to help players dive back into the brutal battles of the Underhive.
Whether you're a long-time gang leader or someone looking to start your first crew, there's plenty on the way.
A new era begins in the Underhive
The centrepiece of the new edition is the Necromunda Skirmish: Core Set, a complete starting point for anyone wanting to explore the deadly world beneath the hive cities.
The box throws players straight into a classic rivalry, with eight brand-new House Escher gangers going up against eight Goliath bruisers.
Alongside the miniatures, the set includes a new battlefield, broken pipe terrain, and everything needed to start playing, including the full Core Rulebook, dice, templates, markers, and campaign materials.
Updated rules for existing gangs
Already have a favourite gang sitting on your shelf?
Good news: existing Necromunda miniatures will remain compatible with the new edition.
Players who already own their crews can simply pick up the new Core Rulebook alongside the relevant Gang book to bring their collection up to date.
Two main faction books will cover the updated rules.
Gangs of the Underhive includes rules for many of the classic factions, including House Escher, House Goliath, House Cawdor, House Delaque, House Orlock, House Van Saar, Palanite Enforcers, Venator Gangs, and Corpse Grinder Cults.
The book also covers additional characters and units such as Hired Guns, Brutes, Hangers-on, Pets, and Justicar Courts.
Meanwhile, Gangs of the Outlands focuses on the more unusual forces of Necromunda, including Outcast Gangs, Free Ogryn Gangs, Genestealer Cults, Chaos Helot Cults, Malstrain factions, Spyre Hunting Parties, Ironhead Squat Prospectors, and Ash Waste Nomads.
More tools for campaign battles
Necromunda has always been about more than just individual fights, with gangs growing and changing through ongoing campaigns.
To support that style of play, Games Workshop is also releasing new card packs designed to keep important information close during games.
The Core Gang Tactics cards include 18 tactics cards that can be used by many factions, along with blank Gang Fighter cards for keeping track of memorable fighters.
The Campaign and Scenario card pack adds more structure to narrative campaigns, featuring territory cards, scenario cards, and rules references to help players manage their gang's progress across multiple games.
Expand your gang collection
For anyone wanting to build a new crew, a selection of Underhive Crew boxes will also be available.
These sets cover six of the major Houses: Cawdor, Orlock, Goliath, Escher, Delaque, and Van Saar.
Each box includes around 16 to 20 miniatures from existing kits, alongside faction-specific weapons and upgrades, giving players plenty of options when creating their gang's loadouts.
New terrain and accessories arrive
Of course, no Necromunda battle is complete without a suitably grim battlefield.
The new Zone Mortalis Factoria Pipes terrain set adds more rusted industrial scenery, featuring pipes, machinery, and larger structures designed to match existing Necromunda terrain collections.
There will also be new Condition and Status Markers to help players track everything happening during chaotic battles, from injuries and fires to other effects that can quickly pile up during a game.
New Necromunda-themed bases are also on the way, including standard 28.5mm options and larger 50mm bases for bigger models.
More from the grim darkness
The Necromunda announcements arrive alongside new Black Library releases too.
Fans of the Necrons can look forward to The Wicked and the Warped, a new novel following Trazyn the Infinite and Orikan the Diviner as they investigate a mysterious relic from the ancient War in Heaven.
To celebrate its release, the hardback edition of The Infinite and the Divine will also return to print.
Meanwhile, Warhammer+ viewers can expect new content exploring the wider Warhammer universes, including Age of Sigmar lore, painting tutorials, and more behind-the-scenes discussions.
The Underhive awaits
With a new core set, updated rules, and plenty of additional releases planned, the next edition of Necromunda looks set to give both new and veteran players plenty to explore.
The Underhive has never been a particularly safe place, but with new gangs, new battles, and new ways to fight, it looks like things are about to get even more interesting down below!
