The news just keeps coming now that Fantasy Flight Games have a hold of Zombicide. A new expansion to the epic game sees an edition based on the popular TV show, Squid Game.
“The Squid Game expansion brings Netflix’s global phenomenon into the Zombicide system, blending its stark, highly controlled arenas with the chaos of a full-blown zombie outbreak.
This expansion is built for Zombicide: 2nd Edition, seamlessly integrating with its rules while introducing a distinct thematic layer drawn from Squid Game. Players will navigate iconic locations that were already pretty deadly before the zombies even arrived, scavenging for equipment while confronting threats that don’t always behave like the undead they’re used to.”
I personally never watched Squid Game on Netflix so no idea whether what I am seeing for this expansion is doing the TV series justice, I can only hope so. If this is of interest to you you will need the base game of Zombicide 2nd edition to make it work.
There are some interesting editions of note though. The zombies in any Zombicide game are hard enough but this expansion is seeing the addition of guards as another enemy for survivors to consider. They pose a different threat as Zombies do not influence what they do, they have set objectives creating a new headache for players.
There is more additions as well connected to the game so go an have a read of Fantasy Flights news. From reading it myself, they are appearing to appeal to fans of both Squid Game and Zombicide and the game will take on a new intensity beyond the regular Zombicide.
Sadly there is no clarity on when this expansion is due to be released from Fantasy Flight. Let’s just keep a look out here.
