Fancy bringing the full Dead by Daylight board game experience to the table? You might soon have another chance!
To celebrate the video game's 10th anniversary, Level 99 Games is launching a new crowdfunding campaign for Dead by Daylight: The Board Game. The campaign starts on August 11 and will give fans the opportunity to pick up the core game, previous expansions and a brand-new storage solution designed to keep the whole collection together.
The full collection
The upcoming Auris Box campaign is aimed at both newcomers and existing players who have somehow found room for an ever-growing pile of Dead by Daylight miniatures! The campaign will offer the core board game alongside four previous expansions: Gatekeeper, Unbroken, Malicious and Lightbringer. There will also be upgrade kits available, giving existing owners ways to bring their copy up to date.
The headline addition is the Auris Box, a dedicated storage solution designed to hold the game's extensive collection of miniatures, cards and other components. And let's be honest, when a board game starts collecting expansions like Dead by Daylight collects victims, a decent storage solution becomes pretty important!
Four survivors. One killer.
The tabletop game keeps the basic idea of the video game intact. Up to five players can take part, with four survivors attempting to repair generators, open the exit and escape the trial. Meanwhile, another player takes control of a killer who is trying to hunt them down.
Survivors need to work together, but staying alive is easier said than done. The killer can injure survivors and eventually place them on hooks, bringing the Entity into the equation. It creates the same cat-and-mouse feeling that made the video game such a hit, but with players sitting around a table rather than frantically running through the woods.
Keep your plans secret
The board game uses hidden planning to create plenty of tension. Players secretly choose their actions before revealing them, with movement uncovering different locations around the board. Once there, players can interact with features of the environment and attempt to gain an advantage.
That means you won't always know what your opponents are planning. A seemingly safe move can quickly turn into a very bad decision when the killer appears! The game combines deduction, tactical movement and asymmetric gameplay, making each side feel different.
Lots of miniatures!
The campaign also looks set to deliver a sizeable collection of plastic. There are plenty of miniatures included across the different products, covering the game's growing roster of survivors and killers. The figures appear to be supplied unpainted, though, so anyone wanting a splash of colour will need to get the paints and brushes out.
With the video game celebrating its 10th anniversary, the timing makes sense. Dead by Daylight has built a huge audience since launching in 2016, and the board game gives fans another way to experience its deadly trials. If you've been waiting for an excuse to expand your Dead by Daylight collection, August 11 could be worth keeping an eye on!
