Are you a Cylon? The Fantasy Flight board game 'Battlestar Galactica' is an absolute classic game in which you are collectively trying to reach your goal planet without running out of resources, or being blown up in a semi co-operative game with the exception that some of you may or may not be Cylons working against the other players. Can you find out who is a Cylon before it's too late?
Originally released in 2008, this is one of my favourite board games, as I'm lucky enough to have a friend who owns the original game and all the expansions. It's a long and tense game of working out who is plotting against you, while trying to manage an ever worsening board state in an attempt to survive. I've accidentally murdered someone who is innocent, been thrown in the brig when innocent myself, and been a Cylon who was given the command of the ship ultimately leading to its destruction. The original game came out in 2008 and has been long out of print and a grail game for collectors of the hobby. Fantasy Flight lost the license but did give the game an Arkham Files reskin with Unfathomable a few years ago that incorporated a few quality of life improvements from the Battlestar Galactica expansions into the core game.
Well one of the most unexpected re-releases is now coming to Gamefound in 2027. Ghost Galaxy have come to an agreement with FFG and the people behind Battlestar Galactica to publish a new version of this classic game next year coming to Gamefound, and with a campaign launching in the coming weeks. We don't yet know if this will be an exact reprint of the original or if there will be some quality of life changes given things have moved on a little in games since 2008.
Either way, this is a very exciting and unexpected development and one we will definitely be following closely.
