If you’re a Pokémon fan and you don’t know which football team to support, why not side with your favourite Pokémon? It might sound weird but it’s real!
How does it work?
Pokémon have partnered with Japan’s top three football leagues, with each club receiving the support of a Pokémon!
The J-League teased the collaboration on their social medias before releasing the list of Pokémon and their corresponding teams on the 6th July.
Why is it special?
What makes this partnership so different is the theme of evolution, which means every team doesn’t just have one Pokémon, but a chain of them.
This theme of evolution will be shown through the giveaways that will start in August and end in September which involve giving out “Evolution” themed eco-bags to fans.
Which Pokémon are involved?
For all the Pikachu lovers out there, you will be thrilled to hear that Pikachu is the official Pokémon of the Japanese national team, which probably explains Japan’s electrifying performances recently!
However, if you’re more of a fan of Gengar, look no further than Kyoto Sanga! And if you prefer Greninja maybe you should be supporting Machida Zelvia. No matter who your favourite Pokémon is, chances are you can now support their football team!
