The LEGO Dobby figure is the perfect project for anyone who wants to enjoy the magic of building without dedicating days to it. I put him together in one night – super quick, yet the end result is so charming it feels like I’ve spent days crafting a masterpiece. The way he looks at you with those big round eyes – he’s got something on Puss in Boots that’s for sure. You can easily knock this build out in a few hours, leaving you time to bask in the glory of your tiny, brick-built house elf.
The Dobby’s in the Details
LEGO really nailed it with Dobby’s look. His eyes are perfectly big and expressive, just like in the movies, and his clothes look like they’ve seen better days. The ears might just be my favourite part. Spon on. They’re perfectly Dobby. AND THEY MOVE! I spent ages just wiggling them up and down. It’s impressive how much personality LEGO has managed to pack into such a small figure.
Master has given Dobby a sock
No Dobby would be complete without his freedom sock, and LEGO hasn’t skimped on the details. It fits snugly into Tom Riddle’s diary, that sits in his little hands and is a perfect throwback to that moment in the Chamber of Secrets when he’s set free. Yes, this sock might not be life-changing, but it certainly adds some heart to the build. He’s also got the glorious cake from the same movie, the one he floats across the dining room. That might have been the longest part of the build, adding all the tiny flowers. Adorable though, and has it’s own little cake stand!
Fun for all builders, big or small
Whether you’re a seasoned LEGO pro, or you’ve never seen a brick in your life (I’m sure everyone’s stood on one by now though?), this set is easy to assemble. It’s not going to stress you out, but it still delivers that satisfying feeling of completion when you finally snap the last piece in place. It’s sturdy enough to display proudly – and he even has his own little stand and name plaque! Honestly, it’s just fun to have a little LEGO Dobby hanging out on your desk.
