In the final centuries of Old Earth’s Age of Strife, the Emperor of Mankind conceived His most ambitious project: the Primarchs. They were to be 20 superhuman sons, each crafted not merely as generals, but as living embodiments of different aspects of the Emperor’s will. Through a fusion of unmatched genetic science, warp-infused bio-alchemy, and arcane technologies lost to history, the Emperor sought to create beings capable of conquering the galaxy and reuniting humanity beneath a single banner.
Each Primarch was engineered from the Emperor’s own genetic template, refined and amplified to godlike extremes. They were designed to be immortal, intellectually peerless, and physically superior to any human or xenos life-form. More importantly, each possessed a distinct temperament and strategic genius suited to a specific style of warfare or governance. From them would be created the Space Marine Legions, each Legion genetically keyed to its Primarch.
The Scattering
Before the Primarchs could be raised on Terra, disaster struck. The Ruinous Powers of the Warp, perceiving the threat the Primarchs posed, intervened. Through a catastrophic warp-storm, the gestation pods containing the infant Primarchs were torn from the Emperor’s laboratories and scattered across the galaxy. Each Primarch landed upon a different world, shaped by its culture, environment, and hardships.
This scattering profoundly influenced who the Primarchs became. Though all were born of the same origin, their upbringings moulded them into vastly different leaders - heroes, tyrants, idealists, and monsters alike. When the Emperor later rediscovered them during the Great Crusade, each Primarch brought not only loyalty or rebellion, but the imprint of their adopted world.
The Twenty Primarchs
Name: Lion El’Jonson - Primarch of the Dark Angels

Raised in the monster-haunted forests of Caliban, Lion El’Jonson grew into a solitary and secretive warrior. The twin Primarchs embodied secrecy and deception. Masters of espionage and misdirection, their true origins and motives remain among the Imperium’s greatest mysteries.
Legacy of the Primarchs
The Primarchs were the greatest weapons ever forged by humanity, yet also its greatest tragedy. Their scattering ensured that triumph and catastrophe were inseparably entwined. Shaped by their worlds, they carried both the Emperor’s dream and the seeds of its destruction, culminating in the Horus Heresy and a galaxy forever scarred by their legacy.
