Another video game is making the jump to tabletop, with Vampire Survivors set to become a board game via a Kickstarter campaign, already launched last autumn.

From screen chaos to tabletop
If you’ve played Vampire Survivors, you’ll know it’s not exactly a calm, measured experience. The game is built around surviving relentless waves of enemies, with the screen gradually filling up as hordes close in from all sides.
Players balance offence and defence - taking down enemies to level up and unlock upgrades, while constantly dodging damage to stay alive. It’s a deceptively simple loop that quickly spirals into controlled chaos, and it’s part of what made the game such a breakout hit.
That same energy is what the board game will need to capture - and it’s no small task.
A tricky adaptation
Translating Vampire Survivors into a tabletop format raises some obvious questions. The original game thrives on real-time action, fast decision-making, and overwhelming numbers of enemies - all things that don’t naturally translate to turn-based play.
That said, the core systems - progression, upgrades, and risk management - could lend themselves well to a board game if handled carefully. The key will likely be how the designers simulate that constant pressure without slowing things down too much.

Video game adaptations on the tabletop have had mixed results, but when they land, they can be something special.
Vampire Survivors feels like a particularly ambitious pick, given how tied it is to its fast-paced digital format. If the team can crack how to bring that sense of escalation and chaos to the table, though, this could end up being a very interesting release to keep an eye on later this year.
