New Games from Gamewright and Buffalo Announced!

I hadn’t appreciated that at the end of 2024, Gamewright became owned by Buffalo Games group. Buffalo are the parent company to Gamewright and as a result, merged social media accounts to become @Gamewrightbuffalo. It does appear like business as usual for the companies though, and maintaining their unique identities with the games they create for their target audiences. There was a big announcement this week that they will be sharing a booth at GenCon (Booth 1807) to exhibit 5 new games coming to market soon. That’s 5!

I must confess I know little of Buffalo’s product but know plenty about Gamewright, so I was immensely excited to see that 4 of the 5 coming were branded in their colours. The Buffalo games look awesome. So what are these new titles?

Dragon Isles by Gamewright

An extension to Gamewrights Dragon series (DragonRealm and Dragonwood), sees Dragon Isles coming to market very soon. There’s very little to go on here, but the suggestion is that the game is inspired by East Asian myths. The game is a dice and deck driven strategy based game and will be for 2-5 players. The cover artwork alone has piqued my interest.

Lying, Cheating Raccoons by Gamewright

Gamewright have been known to dabble with Raccoons before in Trash Pandas, so this is exciting as that one was great. It is a sneaky strategy, quick thinking fast paced game. There looks to have a huge bluffing element required where players roll the dice but conceal the result and have to decide if telling the truth or lying is the best way to victory. Suitable for 2-6 players, and you know it will be quick.

It looks like a lot of fun. It’s just a shame Raccoons get such bad press, I don’t get why.

Ultimate Pac-Man from Buffalo

Pac-Man seems to be enjoying a resurgence as this is not the only board game out there of the beloved character. It’s iconic so it will never go. This one looks very much what you would expect from Pac-Man, the classic arcade game being recreated on the table top. However, there does look to be a little more to it. With multiple Pac-Men on the board, controlled by other players, and the ghosts being controlled by players, something tells me this will be chaotic.

ME WANT PANCAKES! By Gamewright

This title has sold me. This one stands out and I would love to play it. Given it’s noted as 2-6 players and suitable for 5+ this one shouts out that it could well be a great family game. The game looks hugely interactive with players shouting out their desired food, tossing matching

cards into the centre and trying to grab the set if at least four of the same food appear. Yes please!

Rat-a-tat Cat By Gamewright

Something tells me this is a re-release and update of an already existing Gamewright game. A game for 2-6 players that has had a makeover on image. The game is designed to help children with timing and understanding of basic math concepts. Hopefully there will be a few new twists in the game to bring up to date in 2025.

All these games look fantastic so keep your eyes out for the release
