Hot Ones is getting its own board game show!

The hot ones logo with the host rolling a flaming die, there is text that says 'Game Night' and a photo of Shaq after having a spicy wing

Hot Ones is leaving the interview table and heading straight for the board game table! First We Feast is expanding its hugely popular Hot Ones franchise with a brand-new series called Hot Ones: Game Night, bringing celebrity interviews, board games, and plenty of painfully spicy wings together in one very questionable package. The new show will premiere on the First We Feast YouTube channel on September 30, with The Basement Yard's Joe Santagato taking over hosting duties. Doctor Mike will be the first celebrity guest, with Neil deGrasse Tyson and Frank Alvarez among the guests set to appear in upcoming episodes.

Roll the dice!

Rather than sitting across a table and answering questions while working through increasingly spicy wings, guests on Hot Ones: Game Night will have to navigate a custom-themed board game. Players will roll dice, move around the board, and take on challenges and questions inspired by their personalities and backgrounds. There are also prizes up for grabs, giving guests plenty of reasons to take the game seriously. Well, as seriously as you can take anything when you're also eating wings designed to ruin your afternoon.

The format brings together several familiar parts of Hot Ones, but gives the franchise a much more traditional game night feel. Instead of simply answering Sean Evans' questions, guests will have to actually play their way through the episode.

Don't fall behind!

Of course, this is still Hot Ones. There has to be a catch.

As the game progresses, Joe and his guests will work together to complete the challenges and keep moving forward. Falling behind, however, comes with a particularly spicy consequence. That's right, the infamous Wings of Death are sticking around. So while the board game might sound like a relaxing evening with friends, things can quickly turn into a battle for survival. Every bad roll, failed challenge, or setback could potentially bring the hot sauce closer. It's basically the world's most stressful family game night!

A new host!

Joe Santagato will be leading the new series, marking his first major hosting role within the Hot Ones franchise. Known for The Basement Yard, Santagato is also serving as an executive producer on the show, giving him a role in shaping both the game and each episode. He has previously spoken about growing up playing games with friends and family, making the board game format a natural fit for him. Santagato has also admitted that there is one downside to joining the Hot Ones universe. He has to eat the wings too! Still, he says the opportunity to see celebrities compete in a game gives audiences a different way to get to know them. When someone is trying desperately to win a board game while simultaneously trying not to sweat through their shirt, you might get a slightly different interview!

The guests are ready!

The first episode will feature Doctor Mike, the popular physician and online creator. He's only the beginning, though. Future episodes are set to feature astrophysicist and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson, alongside Frank Alvarez and other guests still to be revealed. That gives the series plenty of room to mix up its approach depending on who's sitting around the board. A scientist might approach the challenges very differently from a comedian or entertainer, which could make the format a little more unpredictable than a standard interview.

More than hot wings!

Hot Ones: Game Night joins an expanding lineup of shows from First We Feast, which has already experimented with different formats including Hot Ones Versus, Hot Ones Wing Pong, Pro Moves and Heat Eaters. The brand has grown significantly since First We Feast launched at Complex Media in 2012, with the company now reporting more than 27 million followers across its platforms. Game Night represents another step away from the traditional Hot Ones setup, putting an actual tabletop game at the centre of the show rather than simply using games as a side activity. And honestly, it makes a lot of sense. Board games are already built around competition, unexpected outcomes, and the occasional moment where everything goes horribly wrong. Throw in celebrity guests and a collection of increasingly dangerous wings, and you've got a pretty solid recipe for chaos.

Game night is coming!

There's not long to wait! Hot Ones: Game Night premieres on September 30 on the First We Feast YouTube channel, with Joe Santagato at the helm and Doctor Mike stepping up as the first guest. With a giant custom board, celebrity challenges, prizes, and the ever-present threat of the Wings of Death, this could be one game night where nobody wants to land on the wrong space.

Just remember, there's no house rule that lets you skip the spicy bits!
