Cult of the Lamb Kickstarter launches this November

CULT OF THE LAMB

That’s right, Cult of the Lamb is officially being turned into a board game, and we couldn’t be more ready to pledge our eternal cardboard devotion.

The news broke recently, revealing that developer Paper Fort Games – the UK studio behind the Terraria board game adaptation – is crafting a tabletop version of Massive Monster’s cult-classic roguelite. And while you can’t buy it just yet (or even back it), there’s already a Kickstarter page live for fans to follow ahead of its full launch in November.

If you’ve ever played Cult of the Lamb, you’ll know it’s all about balancing cute and creepy – building up your adorable animal cult, exploring dangerous dungeons, and making just enough questionable moral decisions to keep your followers happy. The upcoming board game looks set to channel exactly that energy.

Players will take on the roles of four prophets of the Old Faith – the Lamb, the Goat, the Owl, and the Snake – each vying to lead the most powerful (and probably most devoted) woodland cult. To win, you’ll need to battle the bishops of the Old Faith, complete rituals, and earn those sweet, sweet victory points. The goal? Become the ultimate woodland prophet and rule over your flock with benevolent – or terrifying – authority.

Gameplay-wise, it’s shaping up to be a mix of dungeon-crawling adventure and worker placement strategy. Think part resource management, part divine combat – a fitting blend for anyone who enjoys both slaying monsters and scheduling sermons. There’s also a hint that Knucklebones, the dice game from the digital version, might make an appearance somewhere in the mix. (We wouldn’t be surprised – there’s a homemade set sitting behind half the board game community at this point!)

While we don’t yet have a full look at the mechanics or components, Paper Fort Games’ involvement bodes well. The studio’s previous work adapting Terraria into a board game showed they know how to handle big IPs while keeping gameplay fun and faithful. If they can capture Cult of the Lamb’s mix of charm, chaos, and heresy, this could be something truly special.

Of course, Cult of the Lamb fans have even more to look forward to – Massive Monster recently revealed a new paid expansion called Woolhaven, promising more adorable mayhem in the digital world. Between that and this upcoming tabletop version, 2025 is shaping up to be a banner year for anyone who enjoys running morally questionable woodland cults (in a totally wholesome, dice-rolling way).

So, keep your eyes on the Kickstarter page this November, sharpen your ceremonial daggers (metaphorically), and prepare to gather your flock.

Because soon, Cult of the Lamb: The Board Game will test your faith, your strategy, and maybe your sanity – one adorable follower at a time.
