After years of fans asking where they went, the strange little creatures known as Cryptkins are finally making a comeback - and this time they’re bringing a lot more than mystery boxes with them.
Cryptozoic Entertainment has officially launched a new Kickstarter campaign reviving the creepy-cute collectible line, complete with brand-new vinyl figures, plushies, puzzles, pins, and even the franchise’s first-ever board game.
For longtime collectors, it’s been a pretty long wait.
Cryptid Return
The big headline here is Cryptkins: Series 3, which introduces 13 new cryptid-inspired vinyl figures to collect.
Like previous releases, each figure comes packed inside a crate-style mystery box and includes a small Bio Card explaining the creature’s personality and background. The designs continue leaning into that mix of spooky folklore and cartoon charm that made the original line stand out in the first place.
Among the new additions are creatures like Skunk Ape, Champ, Imp, and Jackalope, alongside rarer chase figures including the Death Valley Chupacabra and Indigo Gryphon.
There’s also one ultra-rare mystery figure still being kept hidden for now.
Naturally.
Board Game Debut
Probably the biggest surprise in the campaign is the launch of Cryptkins: On the Loose!, the brand’s first tabletop game.
The cooperative board game supports 2–4 players and has families attempting to round up escaped Cryptkins before an ancient force known only as “Bob” breaks into the real world.
Players can even swap physical Cryptkins vinyl figures into the game in place of the included standees, which feels like a pretty smart crossover between the toy and tabletop sides of the campaign.
The base game also includes an exclusive Sasquatch figure only available through the set.
Extra Expansions
Cryptozoic is also pushing pretty hard on add-ons and expansions.
Three separate expansions are currently planned for the board game, including terrain packs that allow players to customise the board layout and gameplay setup. There’s also a Kickstarter-exclusive Big Trouble Expansion that brings older Cryptkins characters back into the mix with additional ID cards and gameplay elements.
Outside the game itself, the campaign includes a whole range of collectible extras as stretch goals and reward tiers.
That lineup includes an oversized Bigfoot plush, enamel pin sets, a Bone-Chilling Hydra vinyl figure, and even a 64-piece Cryptkins puzzle featuring the creatures’ clubhouse.
So yes, the campaign definitely knows its audience.
Creepy-Cute Charm
Part of the appeal of Cryptkins has always been how comfortably weird the brand is.
Rather than leaning fully into horror or full cartoon comedy, the designs sit somewhere in the middle - creepy enough to feel inspired by actual cryptid legends, but still playful enough to work as family-friendly collectibles.
That balance seems to be carrying over nicely into the board game as well, which looks much more chaotic and light-hearted than genuinely spooky.
And honestly, the whole thing feels very collectible-first in the best possible way.
Kickstarter Details
The Cryptkins Kickstarter campaign is live now and runs until June 25th.
If everything stays on track, rewards are currently expected to ship in March 2027.
For collectors, tabletop fans, or anyone who still secretly wishes Bigfoot lived in a tiny mystery box, this revival looks like it’s already finding its audience pretty quickly.
