Looks like Mantic Games is trading in plasma rifles for hidden blades. The team behind Halo: Flashpoint is teaming up with Ubisoft for their next big project: a full-on Assassin’s Creed board game, titled Assassin’s Creed: Animus.
This isn’t just another skirmish game in disguise either-Mantic is calling this one a “true board game,” where 2 to 4 players go head-to-head (and occasionally stab each other in the back) while chasing their own goals and trying to mess with everyone else’s plans. It’s competitive, it’s strategic, and it’s shaping up to be a solid dive into the world of Assassins and Templars.
Confirmed so far as playable characters: Altair, Ezio, Connor, and Eivor-with more big names from the franchise expected to sneak in. You’ll be traveling across eras, tackling challenges, and making those tough choices about whether to play the long game or just get one over on your fellow assassins.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Ubisoft,” said Mantic CEO Ronnie Renton. “Fans can expect a deep respect for the franchise’s lore and history, exciting asymmetric characters, and tough gameplay choices between pursuing your own objectives while needing to maintain their edge over other players.”
A pre-campaign page is already live on Kickstarter, with crowdfunding expected to kick off late in 2025. Mantic’s got some eyes on the global situation too-they’re aware that U.S. tariffs could complicate things and are working on ways to make sure American backers can still join the fun without too much hassle.
