It was probably only a matter of time, but Monopoly is officially heading to Prythian!
Hasbro has announced Monopoly: A Court of Thorns and Roses Edition, a brand-new version of the classic board game inspired by Sarah J. Maas’s hugely popular romantasy series. The game pulls content from the first three books and turns the world of the Night Court, the Seven Courts and Hybern into a full Monopoly board experience.
And honestly, this one looks very clearly aimed at collectors as much as actual Monopoly players!
A Monopoly Board Full Of ACOTAR References
The new edition reworks the standard Monopoly setup around locations, characters and items from A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Wings and Ruin.
Players will travel across Prythian claiming territories throughout the Seven Courts while trying to stop the King of Hybern’s advance.
Instead of standard Chance and Community Chest-style cards, the game includes references like Suriel’s Truths and the Book of Breathings, both pulled directly from the novels.
Hasbro is also replacing the usual houses and hotels with Manors and Palaces, which feels like a fairly natural fit for the setting.
The Tokens Look Surprisingly Good!
One area where themed Monopoly editions usually live or die is the tokens, and this version actually seems to be putting some effort in.
Players can choose from seven gold-coloured pieces, including The Suriel, Illyrian Wings, Feyre’s Bow, The Cauldron and the Truth-Teller Knife.
The Night Court Mountains token will probably end up being a fan favourite too.
For a licensed Monopoly set, the overall presentation does seem noticeably more detailed than some of the quicker pop culture tie-ins Hasbro releases.
Built For Display Too
Hasbro is also leaning heavily into the collector side of things with special book-style packaging.
The box is designed to look like a premium fantasy novel, complete with gold foil details and embossed leather-style textures. It is very clearly meant to sit on a shelf alongside the actual books rather than being shoved into a cupboard after one game night.
That alone will probably be enough to tempt a lot of ACOTAR fans.
The game even includes a foreword from Sarah J. Maas herself, which helps push it further into collector territory rather than feeling like just another standard Monopoly reskin.
More Book Adaptations Keep Coming
Board game adaptations of fantasy and romantasy series have become increasingly common over the last few years as publishers look for ways to tap into huge fandoms outside traditional tabletop spaces.
And few fantasy series are bigger right now than A Court of Thorns and Roses.
The books have built a massive audience online, particularly through BookTok and fantasy reading communities, so a themed board game release like this honestly makes a lot of sense from Hasbro’s perspective.
Whether people actually finish full games of Monopoly with it is another question entirely!
Launching This October
Monopoly: A Court of Thorns and Roses Edition is currently available for pre-order as an Amazon exclusive and is set to launch on October 1, 2026..
