I’m in absolute awe of the quality of this product. Picked up as a gift for my wife, because I never get her flowers (I see them as dead money) this product offered the perfect solution for me and my wife loved it.
I actually had to do a double take on them when walking by them placed neatly in a vase in our home. I could not believe they were Lego as they looked real. The quality of the product is nothing short of exceptional and the detail, incredible. My mind was blown. The set includes daisies, elderflowers, cornflowers, roses and orchids to name just some of them.
Then you cast your eye around the assorted types of flower and there are many many differing types in the one set which really adds a lot. Not only does this make for a very attractive and appealing bouquet but obviously a different challenge for construction with each and every type of flower keeping the puzzle/construction far more interesting than just repeating the same 1 or 2 designs of flower.
Having read and learned a little more about Lego Botanicals, the creators at Lego have utilised what they are calling “Nice Parts usage” meaning they are re-purposing existing bricks from designs back in the day and creating new designs out of them. One example is the petals seen on the flowers are being created from shields from the old medieval range of Lego. I applaud the effort here from Lego to diversify their range from existing brick. It’s amazing.
Florists will be wincing everywhere at what Lego have created as part of their range. These products are not dying off, wilting or need constant maintenance in watering. They will last forever, look as good 10 years down the line and need no care. Obviously the product also mixes and matches existing Lego. The cost saver though compared with constant flower purchases (If you are that way inclined) is 2nd to none. If I am buying flowers I’m picking up more in the lego range. I can see my wife also enjoying this and creating news displays of Lego flowers.
My wife had such a great time constructing the flowers in the first instance and then just appreciating what she had made. She found it a very mindful activity just losing herself in the moment of building and having that little bit of escapism after the young ones were in bed. Lego is no longer just a children’s toy, there are now plenty out there purely made for adults to enjoy the build of some high quality products. I’m actually looking forward to picking up more from the Botanical range to place around our home.
Final thought
I’ve been a huge fan of Lego all my life and this Botanical range is truly excellent. Lego have completed excellent work with the creation of the product and you cannot go wrong with picking up this set for yourself or as a gift to another.
