UNO is going competitive!

Uno cards and the Uno box in the middle

UNO is leaving the family game night table and heading for the big stage! Mattel has announced the UNO Championship Series, a new competitive tournament series that will see players battle it out for the title of UNO Champion. The action will be streamed live on Twitch, giving fans a chance to watch some seriously competitive card slinging from home! And yes, there is a $50,000 prize on the line!

Get qualifying!

Players will have several chances to earn their place in the championship. In-person qualifying events will take place across the U.S., with tournaments scheduled for Kissimmee, Florida, on October 3, Chicago on October 10, and El Segundo on October 17. If travelling across America for UNO isn't quite on your schedule, there is another option. Players can compete through free weekly qualifying tournaments in the UNO Mobile app, running from August 31 to September 27. That gives UNO fans plenty of opportunities to prove they have what it takes to compete at the highest level. Just remember, confidence means nothing when someone hits you with a perfectly timed Draw 4!

The big finale!

The series will culminate with the UNO Championship Series Tournament in Los Angeles on November 11. Players from around the world will compete for the championship, with the entire event being streamed live on Twitch. The winner will walk away with a $50,000 grand prize, making this considerably more serious than deciding who has to put the cards back in the box after game night. Mattel says the tournament will showcase the unpredictable nature of UNO, with players battling through comebacks, surprise reversals, and those moments where one card can completely change the game.

UNO gets a new look!

The championship isn't arriving alone, either. Mattel is also releasing a new range of UNO Championship Series products to coincide with the event. It is another step in UNO's growing presence beyond the traditional tabletop. The game has already become a global household name, and the new competition series could give competitive card gaming an entirely new audience. So, if you thought UNO was just about arguing with your mates over whether someone actually played their last card correctly, think again!

The next generation of UNO players might be competing for $50,000, a championship title, and bragging rights on a rather enormous scale. Time to start practising those Draw 4s!
