Two new Discworld board games are coming!

Discworld is heading back to the tabletop in 2026, and this time things are getting particularly chaotic!

Modiphius Entertainment has opened pre-orders for two new games based on Terry Pratchett’s much-loved fantasy world. Discworld: Kill Sam Vimes and Discworld: Readers Digested both bring familiar locations and characters to the table, but they offer very different ways to experience Ankh-Morpork. The publisher has already been expanding its Discworld range with Adventures in Ankh-Morpork, its official tabletop RPG, which followed a Kickstarter campaign that raised more than £2.4 million. Now, fans have two more games to look forward to!

Kill Sam Vimes

Let’s start with what might be the least sensible assassination attempt in Ankh-Morpork!

In Discworld: Kill Sam Vimes, 2-6 players become trainee assassins from the Assassins’ Guild. Their objective is to get close enough to Sam Vimes to carry out the ultimate contract. There is, naturally, a problem. Vimes is not exactly known for standing around waiting to be murdered. Players will need to move through Ankh-Morpork, avoid traps and deal with the various obstacles standing between them and the City Watch commander. It is a competitive strategy game designed by Dom Westerland, with games lasting around 60 minutes. The winner is not simply the player who gets closest to Vimes. Players score House Points throughout the game, meaning you will need to carefully manage your assassins while trying to outplay the competition.

Pre-ordering also gets you a bonus pack containing four additional Assassin cards, each bringing its own special ability to the game.

Readers Digested

Fancy something a little less murderous? Readers Digested takes players into the Unseen University during Reading Week, which is apparently every bit as chaotic as you might expect. Designed for 2-4 players, the game puts you in the role of Assistant Librarians tasked with restoring order and getting wayward students safely to their exams. The game is a licensed reimagining of Blue Moon City, the classic strategy game designed by Reiner Knizia. Modiphius has given the original game a Discworld makeover while adding new content, making it a rather intriguing combination of Knizia’s gameplay and Pratchett’s world. There will be standard and deluxe editions available, with the deluxe version adding upgraded components and solo rules. Pre-orders will also receive an exclusive bonus game tile.

More Discworld!

These two releases are part of a much bigger year for Discworld tabletop gaming. Modiphius is also bringing Adventures in Ankh-Morpork to retail and has another RPG campaign, Adventures in Lancre and Uberwald, planned for later in 2026. With assassins hunting Sam Vimes and students causing havoc at the Unseen University, it looks like Discworld fans have plenty to keep them busy!

Just remember, if your plan involves assassinating Sam Vimes, you probably should have read the fine print first.
