This surprise board game show could Be HUGE

Felicia Day's latest Kickstarter campaign has already smashed through its original funding goal, but one of its most exciting stretch goals isn't another prop, costume, or behind-the-scenes extra.

Instead, it's an entirely new board game series!

Called Conludo, the upcoming show will be hosted by Felicia Day alongside fellow geek icon Wil Wheaton, bringing board games, conversations, and special guests together in a relaxed new format that fans can help unlock through the campaign.

A bonus fans didn't see coming

The new series is part of the hugely successful Kickstarter for The Guild: Ren Faire'd, a feature-length film based on the much-loved web series The Guild.

The crowdfunding campaign has already proven to be a massive success, passing its original funding target in just ten days and attracting tens of thousands of backers. As additional stretch goals have been revealed, Day has continued adding new rewards for supporters, with Conludo being one of the latest announcements.

Rather than focusing directly on the film itself, the new series celebrates another hobby that's become closely associated with both hosts over the years: tabletop gaming.

What is Conludo?

The format sounds refreshingly simple.

Each episode will begin with Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton sitting down for a conversation. From there, they'll decide which board game to play based on whatever they've been discussing.

That means every episode could end up featuring a completely different game and a very different style of conversation.

The pair also plan to invite friends to join them around the table, opening the door for guest appearances from familiar faces, including members of the original The Guild cast.

A name with a fitting meaning

The title Conludo comes from Latin and translates to "play together," which feels like a pretty appropriate description of the show's overall idea.

Speaking about the announcement, Felicia Day described the series as a celebration of the wonderfully nerdy hobbies that inspire the people behind them, as well as the simple joy of sitting around a table and playing games with friends.

Still one more stretch goal to hit

Although the series has now been announced, fans won't actually get to watch it just yet.

The first episode of Conludo will unlock once the Kickstarter campaign reaches its $4.6 million stretch goal.

If that target is reached, additional episodes will continue to unlock for every extra $100,000 pledged, with a total of ten episodes planned.

With the campaign still running until 22 August, there's still plenty of time for supporters to push it over the remaining milestones.

The Guild returns

Of course, Conludo isn't the main event.

The Kickstarter is centred around The Guild: Ren Faire'd, a brand-new feature-length film written and created by Felicia Day.

The movie will reunite the original Guild cast while also introducing a couple of notable newcomers, including Nathan Fillion and Misha Collins.

Story details are still being kept under wraps, although the film will take place at a Renaissance Faire, giving the cast a brand-new setting for their latest adventure.

Another celebration of tabletop gaming

Board games have become a regular feature of online entertainment over the past decade, but Conludo looks set to take a slightly different approach by blending casual conversation with whatever game naturally fits the mood.

Assuming the Kickstarter reaches its next stretch goal, it won't be long before players get to pull up a chair and join the conversation!
