The Witcher 3 just hit a huge new milestone

Geralt of Rivia, wielding a sword and wearing armor, stands ready against a wind-swept background. Text reads "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past."

More than a decade after its original release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still breaking records!

CD Projekt has revealed that the acclaimed RPG has now sold more than 65 million copies worldwide, cementing its place among the best-selling video games of all time. But that wasn't the only surprise hidden in the studio's latest earnings report.

Geralt Is Coming Back

Perhaps the biggest announcement is that The Witcher 3 is getting a brand-new expansion in 2027.

Titled Songs of the Past, the expansion is being developed alongside Fool's Theory and will mark Geralt's return more than a decade after players first stepped into his boots. According to CD Projekt, the new content is intended to serve as both a celebration of Geralt's story and a bridge toward the upcoming The Witcher 4, where Ciri is expected to take centre stage.

It's a rare move in modern gaming, with very few single-player titles receiving major expansions this long after launch.

Still Going Strong

The latest sales milestone helps explain why CD Projekt continues to invest in The Witcher 3. Alongside ongoing sales, the game recently joined Xbox Game Pass, introducing a new generation of players to the fantasy RPG.

The studio also reported strong financial results for the first quarter of 2026, with revenues increasing year-on-year thanks largely to continued sales of both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk's Kickstarter Success

Elsewhere, CD Projekt highlighted the extraordinary success of the recently announced Cyberpunk 2077 Trading Card Game.

The project raised an impressive $28 million through Kickstarter, making it the platform's most-funded gaming campaign to date and one of the biggest crowdfunding successes ever recorded.

With The Witcher 4 in development, Cyberpunk 2077 continuing to perform strongly and a surprise new Geralt adventure on the horizon, it looks like CD Projekt has no plans to slow down anytime soon.

For fans of monster hunting, it turns out the Path is far from over.
