Based on the Captain Sonar system, Matagot is soon to be releasing a 2-4 (but preferably 2v2) player Star Trek game in which one team will be the Federation controlling a ship and the other will be your opponents trying to track down and destroy you. There are a mix of ships and crew for you to choose, and like Captain Sonar, this will be something you can play in real time or turn based.
This will be a relatively light game, using hidden screens and different roles, on each side a Captain will be responsible for determining the ships starting position and movement, and the Second will be responsible for trying to locate the other team's ship to try and destroy it and claim victory.
I've always struggled to get a game of Captain Sonar to happen due to wanting to play with the full complement of 8 players, so this version playing best with 4 means that it's much easier to get to the table. On top of that, I'm a sucker for the Star Trek theme, which will make this much more appealing to me.
Although we haven't got a release date yet, Star Trek: Space Hunt is available for pre-order now, and this one looks like it will be a blast that I can't wait to try out.
