Sniper Elite is back!

The Sniper from Sniper Elite with the logo for Sniper Elite: The Board Game in the top left corner

Got a soft spot for stealth, secret movements and the occasional extremely stressful dice roll? Good news! Sniper Elite: The Board Game is heading back to retail alongside its biggest expansion yet, Operation Kraken.

Originally released in 2022, the hidden movement game from Rebellion Unplugged has built up a strong following, and 2026 is shaping up to be a big year for the tabletop version of the popular video game series.

Back on shelves!

The original Sniper Elite: The Board Game is returning to print, giving new players another chance to get involved without having to hunt down an increasingly elusive copy. The game puts one player in the boots of sniper Karl Fairburne, while up to three other players control defenders trying to track him down. It's a tense game of deduction and bluffing. The sniper secretly moves around the map, completing objectives and trying to stay hidden, while the defenders work together to narrow down his location.

The game was designed by David Thompson and Roger Tankersley, whose credits include Undaunted, War Chest and Resist!.

Operation Kraken

The big new arrival is Sniper Elite: Operation Kraken, which adds two fresh missions to the series. One scenario takes players into a Norman village where Axis armoured vehicles are patrolling the area. The other moves the action onto a heavily defended frigate, with cramped corridors, air vents and plenty of opportunities for things to go sideways!

The expansion also introduces new abilities and tactical options for both sides, giving returning players more tools to play with. If you prefer sneaking around on your own, there is good news there too. Every map in the range includes a dedicated solo mode designed by Dávid Turczi and Noralie Lubbers.

More ways to play

Alongside Operation Kraken comes Sniper Elite: Escalation, a modular expansion designed to work across the game's maps and other expansions. It adds Special Ops missions, new objectives, specialist equipment, difficult terrain and battlefield upgrades. There is even a canine companion for the sniper! The modular approach means players can mix these additions into existing scenarios, giving the collection considerably more replayability.

One big box!

For players who have already gone all-in on Sniper Elite, there is also a new Deluxe Storage Box. The box is designed to hold the core game, Eagle's Nest, Operation Kraken, Escalation, the Deluxe Upgrade Kit and Sniper Screen. It features a magnetic lid, a custom insert for miniatures and components, plus a pull-out drawer for the game's maps. It's basically a command centre for your Sniper Elite collection!

A big year

The latest releases follow a Gamefound campaign that attracted 2,680 backers and raised more than £360,000, showing there is still plenty of enthusiasm for the tabletop adaptation. With the original game returning to print, two new expansions arriving and a dedicated storage solution joining the range, 2026 looks set to be the biggest year yet for Sniper Elite: The Board Game.

Time to get into position!
