Trading Cards Meet the Great Outdoors
Families looking for something different this May half term will soon be able to combine Pokémon adventures with outdoor exploration thanks to a brand-new partnership between National Trust and Pokémon UK.
The collaboration introduces exclusive Pokémon Trading Card Game Mega Evolution Trails at 14 National Trust locations across the UK. Designed especially for families and younger fans, the experience aims to blend imaginative play with outdoor activity during the school holidays.
The new trails will run throughout May half term and are inspired by the world of the Pokémon TCG, focusing specifically on Mega Evolution Pokémon.
A New Adventure for Young Trainers
Each trail features a series of activity stations where children can complete simple physical and creative challenges themed around different Pokémon.
Some activities encourage bravery and curiosity through characters like Mega Gengar ex, while others focus on energy and imagination inspired by Mega Charizard Y ex.
Participants will use a trail sheet to track their discoveries as they move around the site, turning each location into a mini Pokémon adventure. Once the trail is completed, families can celebrate with a special Pokémon-themed photo opportunity set up at the end of the experience.
The idea behind the partnership is to encourage children and families to spend more time outdoors while keeping the activities playful and accessible.
Bringing Pokémon Into Nature
The National Trust says the collaboration is designed to help families feel more comfortable exploring green spaces and historic sites together. By combining Pokémon’s spirit of discovery with outdoor settings, organisers hope the trails will encourage curiosity, creativity, and light exercise without feeling overly structured.
The activities are intentionally gentle and family-friendly, making them suitable for younger children while still offering enough interactive fun to keep dedicated Pokémon fans engaged.
It is also another example of how tabletop and trading card games continue expanding beyond traditional indoor spaces. Pokémon in particular has remained hugely popular across multiple generations thanks to its games, anime series, films, and ever-growing trading card game community.
North West Locations Confirmed
Several locations in the North West are taking part in the event, giving local families plenty of opportunities to join in during half term.
The participating sites include Quarry Bank, Sizergh, and Speke Hall.
Alongside these, additional National Trust sites across the UK will also host the trails during the holiday period.
A Different Kind of Pokémon Experience
While Pokémon events are often tied to video games or card tournaments, this partnership takes a slightly different approach by encouraging families to explore nature and historic locations together.
The mix of physical challenges, themed activities, and collectible-style adventure sheets feels like a natural fit for younger Pokémon fans, especially during a busy half term break.
For parents looking to get children away from screens for a few hours without losing the excitement of gaming culture, the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Trails could prove a surprisingly fun alternative.
With trading cards, outdoor exploration, and some of Pokémon’s most iconic Mega Evolutions involved, it looks set to be a lively addition to the half term calendar.
