Peaky Blinders gets its own murder mystery case file game

Peaky Blinders case file with magnifying class, paper and blood stains

Fans of Peaky Blinders looking to spend more time in its gritty 1920s world now have a new way to do it - this time around the table.

A new case file from Cryptic Killers drops players straight into a murder investigation tied to the Shelby family, tasking them with solving a crime and clearing the name of Tommy Shelby.

A murder in Small Heath

The setup is classic Peaky Blinders. It’s 1920, and jockey Clifford Brown has been found dead behind the Garrison Tavern. With tensions already high ahead of an upcoming race, suspicion quickly lands on Tommy and his crew - leading to his arrest.

From there, it’s up to players to work through the evidence and figure out what really happened.

A proper case file experience

Like other entries in the Cryptic Killers range, this isn’t a traditional board game. It’s more of a tabletop investigation - somewhere between an escape room and a detective puzzle.

Inside the box, you’ll find 35 pieces of physical evidence to sift through, including:

  • Police reports and newspaper clippings
  • Maps of Small Heath
  • Photographs and case notes

There are also audio elements, with “calls” from characters like Tommy and Arthur Shelby helping to guide (or potentially mislead) your investigation.

Not an easy solve

This one sits at a 4/5 difficulty rating, so it’s aimed at players who enjoy a proper challenge. Most groups can expect to spend around three hours piecing everything together, depending on how quickly the clues click.

If things do stall out, there’s a built-in hint system to nudge you back on track without giving the whole game away.

Timed nicely with Peaky’s return

The release also lines up nicely with renewed interest in the series, especially with the upcoming Peaky Blinders film continuing the story beyond the TV show.

For fans, it’s another way to step into that world - this time not just watching events unfold, but actively trying to untangle them.

A different kind of tabletop night

The Cryptic Killers series has carved out a niche with these one-session mystery games, and this Peaky Blinders entry leans heavily into theme and immersion.

If you’re into narrative-driven puzzles and don’t mind a bit of head-scratching along the way, it looks like a solid pick - especially if you’ve ever wanted to see if you could outthink the chaos of Small Heath yourself.
