The Helluva Boss board game has absolutely blown past $500,000 in funding, establishing itself as one of the biggest indie animation-to-tabletop success stories of the year. Based on the hit web series from Vivziepop, the game brings the I.M.P. crew straight to your table.
Created in partnership with developer Maestro Media, Helluva Boss: The Board Game captures the fast-paced energy of the show in a competitive, card-driven format for 2 to 4 players. You’ll take control of one of the fan-favourite assassins from the Immediate Murder Professionals – Blitzo, Moxxie, Millie, or Loona – and compete to collect the most valuable mortal souls before time runs out.
Murder, Mayhem, and… Sabotage
The goal is simple: hunt souls, sabotage your rivals, and climb to the top of Hell’s most dysfunctional hit squad. Each player uses a unique deck tied to their character’s personality and abilities. On your turn, you’ll target mortals, play action cards to collect bounties, and unleash a variety of Event Cards to throw the game into chaos.
Much like the show itself, the tone here is a mix of humour, underworld politics, and backstabbing. From what we’ve seen so far, this is a party game at heart.
One of the highlights of the Kickstarter campaign has been the involvement of the show’s voice actors. They’ve demoed the game while playing in character – and yes, it’s just as chaotic as you’d expect. Fans of the series will appreciate the attention to detail and deep love for the source material.
Indie Animation Meets Tabletop Triumph
It’s fascinating to see just how well indie web animation translates into the world of board games. Helluva Boss isn’t the first to do it – Tomska’s Muffin Time and Mine Turtle (based on asdfmovie) were both massive hits – but this latest success proves there’s real appetite for creative, character-driven games that come from online series.
