Announced during New York Comic Con 2025, the upcoming Delicious in Dungeon: The Board Game will launch in May 2026, bringing all the dungeon-delving, monster-fighting, and monster-cooking chaos fans could ask for.
Designed for 2 to 5 players, the game drops you straight into the world of Delicious in Dungeon (or Dungeon Meshi, if you’re keeping it Japanese), where brave adventurers must explore dangerous labyrinths, take down terrifying beasts, and – most importantly – turn those same beasts into dinner. It’s survival meets fine dining, with a hearty serving of strategy on the side.
Players will take on the roles of familiar characters from the series – think Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, and Senshi – as they team up to battle creatures, gather ingredients, and cook up culinary masterpieces to earn victory points. The twist? You’ll need to balance combat prowess with your cooking skills, because only the most resourceful adventurer-chefs will come out on top.
The game is being designed by Ginichiro Suzuki, best known for the cult classic 1998 board game Monster Maker. Suzuki’s experience in blending fantasy adventure with card-driven mechanics makes him the perfect fit to bring Delicious in Dungeon’s quirky charm to life. Expect a mix of cooperative strategy and light-hearted humour – the kind that’ll have your party debating whether it’s morally acceptable to braise a basilisk tail for extra points.
Fans of the manga and anime will recognise plenty of flavour from the source material. The board game promises to capture the same warmth, teamwork, and chaotic energy that made Delicious in Dungeon a hit worldwide. After all, few stories balance heartfelt character moments with recipes for roasted mimic quite as beautifully.
For anyone new to the series: Delicious in Dungeon (by Ryoko Kui) first launched in English via Yen Press back in 2017, before exploding in popularity thanks to its Netflix anime adaptation in early 2024. The show’s blend of adventure, humour, and surprisingly detailed cooking sequences won over fans and critics alike – even nabbing Best Manga at the Harvey Awards and Best Continuing Manga Series at the inaugural American Manga Awards.
Now, with this tabletop adaptation on the way, players will finally be able to step into the party’s shoes – or aprons – for themselves. Early previews hint at modular dungeon tiles, monster encounter decks, and recipe cards that let you literally cook your way to victory.
So whether you’re a dungeon-crawling veteran or just here for the goblin stew, this looks like one tasty addition to your board game collection.
