Castle Beef launches on Kickstarter

ogo for 'Castle Beef' featuring bold, fiery red text above a stone castle structure with glowing eyes and large bull horns, set against a dark background

Richard Ashenden brings his first project to kickstarter in Castle Beef. The game is presently live at time of writing on the 4th June 2026 and already successfully funded, congratulations!

I love to see people bringing their projects to life, I find it so inspiring as I’ve said before as it is a skill set I do not have. Castle Beef also looks like a lot of fun. So what is it all about?

“A fast paced, Castle-Building family card game with the table presence of a Board Game!”

“Prepare to build, battle, and outwit your opponents - with quick-fire gameplay, outrageous character, and castles full of surprises, Castle Beef is a fast-paced, turn based battle royale game that’s simple to learn, wildly entertaining, and loaded with strategic depth for all the ages.”

A game for 2-6 players taking around 30 minutes to play. The game puts players in charge of creating their own custom castles to protect their royal family.

For me on first impressions it looks like a lovely simple game to play that will bring plenty of laughter and entertainment to the participants around the table which I am here for. And whilst the game is important for us gamers I have loved reading about this man and creation. The game has been in creation since lockdown and inspired from a lockdown idea, where the vegetables were not growing well at home so he reutilised the family greenhouse for tree planting. One of his children, tired from gardening said “wouldn’t it be nice if we could save the world with trees and have fun at the same time?” It got Richard’s mind to work and at a games night it came to him that he could create a game that when sold would fund a tree-planting project. I love this and in awe of what people can come up with.

Through the years of project development, tinkering with rules and perfecting the product. Other ideas came through in the family where some of the money raised will also go to supporting the Little Princess Trust which is another highly worthy charity of support for the good work they do. The causes this game is supporting is fabulous.

Good luck Richard to you and your family on this project. It is such a worthy cause and I really hope players take a look at your kickstarter and get behind the game. It is a wonderful idea.
