Berserk: The Board Game releases official trailer

Prepare for blood, steel, and Behelits – the world of Berserk is officially making the leap from manga to the tabletop. Developer Monolith Board Games has dropped the official trailer for Berserk: The Board Game, giving fans a first proper look at the gameplay, miniatures, and mechanics ahead of its crowdfunding launch on October 7 via Gamefound.

Based on the late Kentaro Miura’s legendary dark fantasy manga, Berserk: The Board Game brings the visceral world of Midland to life in a co-operative tabletop experience. The campaign focuses on the Millennium Falcon Arc, a pivotal storyline in the Berserk saga, and supports 1 to 5 players in narrative-driven, strategic combat scenarios.

A Dark Journey Begins

Monolith – the studio behind acclaimed board game adaptations like Batman: Gotham City Chronicles and Conan – has gone all-in with this project. In the newly released trailer, we get a first look at the game’s mechanics, dark atmospheric art, and a stunning collection of miniatures that promise to bring the Berserk universe to life on your tabletop.

Each game session plays out over roughly 90 minutes, and is built around multi-round “Adventures.” These feature branching storylines powered by Event Cards that introduce objectives, narrative beats, and plenty of unpredictable twists – both fortunate and deadly.

Players will control iconic characters from the Berserk universe including Guts, Farnese, Serpico, Isidro, and Schierke, each represented by detailed miniatures and unique Action Cards. These cards not only determine movement and combat options, but can also activate special abilities and powers. But there’s a catch – using too many cards in a turn causes Fatigue, which reduces your stats and makes you more vulnerable. Tactical resource management will be key to survival.

Miniatures That Capture the Madness

One of the game’s standout features is its massive lineup of over 100 miniatures, sculpted in high-quality 35mm ABS and PVC. Alongside the core cast, Monolith has revealed models for Casca, the enigmatic Skull Knight, the terrifying Zodd, Grunbeld, Kundalini, and more. Each character also features “levelled up” versions to reflect progression through the campaign, allowing for some truly epic transformations.

It’s clear from the trailer that Monolith is treating the source material with reverence. Fans can expect a game steeped in lore, brutality, and the relentless tone that defines Berserk. Whether you’re cleaving through apostles with Dragonslayer or casting spells as Schierke, there’s a lot here for manga fans and tactical gamers here.

Campaign Incoming

The crowdfunding campaign is set to launch on Gamefound this October 7, and expectations are high. With Monolith’s proven track record in creating deep, scenario-based games with high production values, Berserk: The Board Game is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated tabletop adaptations of the year.
