Ayrshire is getting its first board gaming convention!

Text saying 'AYRSHIRE GAMES EXPO' with board games in the background and text saying Saturday 22nd August 10AM - 4PM

Ayrshire’s tabletop gaming community is getting ready for a big day out, with the first-ever Ayrshire Games Expo arriving in Troon this weekend! Organised by Troon Tabletop, the new convention will bring board games, trading cards, roleplaying and wargaming together under one roof. The event takes place at Walker Hall in Troon on Saturday, August 22, running from 10 am until 6 pm. The expo has been created following a successful year of weekly gaming sessions run by Troon Tabletop. The group has built a growing local community and now wants to give players from across Ayrshire the chance to meet, play and discover new games together.

Something for everyone!

You don’t need to be a tabletop expert to get involved. Ayrshire Games Expo is designed to welcome everyone, from experienced players to people who are completely new to the hobby. There will be a board game library packed with games to try, along with learn-to-play sessions for anyone who needs a helping hand. Modern favourites including Catan and Ticket to Ride are expected to be available, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to sit down and start playing. There’s also plenty beyond traditional board games. Trading card fans can browse Pokémon cards, while wargamers and curious newcomers can meet groups from around Kilmarnock and Saltcoats. Visitors will also have the chance to discover games from Scottish designers and browse exhibitors selling games, accessories and other tabletop goodies.

Meet the community!

At its heart, the Ayrshire Games Expo is about bringing people together. Troon Tabletop’s regular sessions are already helping local players find somewhere to game, and the new convention is designed to take that community spirit to the next level. The organisers hope the event will become an annual fixture, with the long-term goal of growing it into a major tabletop convention for the region. With limited tickets available and the event expected to attract gamers from across Ayrshire, this could be a pretty exciting first chapter for the local tabletop scene!

So, whether you’re a Catan veteran, a Pokémon card collector, a wargaming fanatic, or someone who simply wants to see what all the fuss is about, Troon is the place to be this Saturday!
