Magic the Gathering continues to go hard on its recent collaborations with other franchises, as it has been announced they will be teaming up with PlayStation to bring some of Sony’s most beloved creations to the Magic universe. Following on from their incredibly successful collaboration with Final Fantasy, one I was a particular fan of, these new sets of cards are likely to make another big splash on the Magic scene, and an early look at the cards showcase their stunning artwork and super powerful abilities.
These are likely to only be available for a very limited run that you will need to be extremely quick to scoop up if interested.
The Secret Lair
Currently, seven direct to consumer products have been announced, and as a fan of both Magic the Gathering and PlayStation, it has my excitement levels at a fever pitch!
The seven drops are scheduled to be:
- Secret Lair x The Last of Us Part I
- Secret Lair x The Last of Us Part II
- Secret Lair x God of War: Greek
- Secret Lair x God of War: Norse
- Secret Lair x Uncharted
- Secret Lair x Horizon: Into the Forbidden West
- Secret Lair x Ghost of Tsushima
With the first drop due to go on sale on the 27th of October, you will need to ensure you have set a reminder in your calendar as they are likely to sell out fast, and will need to be purchased from Wizards of the Coast’s website directly.
Personally I am most excited for the Ghost of Tsushima cards, as the artwork looks incredible, and all the buzz coming off of Ghost of Yotei’s release today has me in the mood for some samurai themed Magic play.
The Magic Universe Expands
Magic the Gatherings penchant for collaborating with existing IPs have been key to their continued growth throughout the years, and while this one looks far more limited than their recent Final Fantasy collab, it still shows Magic fans will continue to have an incredible amount of variety to add to their collection.
Whether its Doctor Who, Spiderman or SpongeBob SquarePants, their Universes Beyond Series has opened the door for casual fans to get into Magic in an ingenious way, myself included, and this drop is one I will be counting down the days for this October.
