PAX Unplugged 2025 releases – 25th Century Games

With PAX Unplugged coming at the end November there will be lots of publishers to explore and peruse during the 3-day exhibition. One of the largest collections of games will be available at the 25th Century Games stand. Publishers of classic titles reimagined in modern artwork and revised mechanics. At this year’s PAX they will be unveiling many titles both new and old to enjoy.

Botswana

This straightforward Renier Knizia game, which was first released under several different names in the 1990s, uses the well-liked theme of animals. In the set collection game Botswana, your goal is to hold the most valuable animals. Players take one token and play one card from their hand each turn. Until all six cards of a single colour have been played, players continue in this manner. The number of chips they gathered and the value of the top card that appears in the same colour are then used to determine their scores.

RA and Write

Another Knizia game, but in a different flip-and-write structure. Played over three “kingdoms,” or rounds, throughout the game. The Egyptian mythology of the gods who govern every aspect of life served as the foundation for the original RA game. This one too has the same captivating subject. Each round is timed using a massive deck of cards, and players can select any revealed card to cross off items on their sheets. Expect the same engaging artwork and streamlined gameplay in this classic-modern Knizia .

Big Sur

In this brand-new game for 2025, explore California’s coastal routes. The game is driven (sorry!) forward by the landmarks and places you visit. For those who enjoy cosy games for couples, this game is guaranteed to be a favourite thanks to its superb production. Up to four people can participate in the game, adding to Route 1’s route network. Alternatively, they might utilise the card to obtain resources to construct smoother and better roads. But whatever path your game take, remember to take in this magnificent road’s picturesque views!

Operation Barclay

Speaking of games that are ideal for two players, the following title provides a devoted duo experience. This is for people that prefer something a little more sophisticated. You and your opponent are competing intelligence agencies seeking for clues to outwit the other. Using a trick-taking concept, players have a variety of options for luring their opponents off their trail. This game is great for people who prefer a story-driven element to their gaming nights. Operation Barclay will undoubtedly stimulate your cognitive abilities.

Red Letter, Yellow Letter

A party game with words? Maybe just the concept of it makes you roll your eyes. But do not worry, there is no spelling or grammar in this one. Red Letter, Yellow Letter depends on your perception to determine which letters are good and which are negative. Each round, one letter goes red, indicating that it cannot be in a specific word in the deck. There is also a yellow letter which is the opposite. Maybe you want the word to start with a “H” or a word that ends with a “S”. An inviting and energetic party game sure to get everyone laughing around the table.

Wine Cellar

Oh, the spirit of wine is such a treat to our taste buds. Wine, which may be one of the tongue’s seven flavours, can be a precious item. In this re-implementation of Wine Cellar’d, you strive to make a profit while smooth talking potential customers. Will you be able to identify the proper wine from a huge collection of cards? Clients, of course, are finicky, preferring a specific taste and country to enjoy. Will you be your local group’s wine king or queen?

Woof Days/Cat Days

Two unique games with different themes for feline or canine companions. Whoever your friend of choice is, both games offer a plethora of unique cards to enjoy. Designed for two players, you can mix Dog Days and Cat Days to accommodate four players if you so wish. However, over the course of an in-game week, you must outscore by using creative combos. So, the only choice now is whether you’ll have cuddly kittens or dynamic dogs?

So, as Christmas approaches, maybe it’s time to unplug and get some new PAX inspired games. Perhaps 25th Century Games will be your first stop?
