Since getting into the board/tabletop games hobby over the last few years, I have been intrigued by the endless wave of crowdfunded projects. I’ve even added some of these to my collection after the fact (Elden Ring, Blood Rage and possibly more). So, this year I'm planning on jumping into the Gamefound library of projects to back a couple, but which ones am I excited to back the most. Let’s find out.
The Void Unveiled: Echoes of Arkham

As a lover of Lovecraftian horror and games with well-designed models The Void Unveiled jumped out at me straight away. Boasting 30+ hours of adventure and branching “Choose your own adventure” narrative paths through the persistent story, it sounds like a game I can leave tabled for a while and keep coming back to. Also, with it being one to four players I can run multiple campaigns specific to player count.
Jumping between exploration, investigation and battles with unspeakable Eldrich horrors is the staple of what makes a good Lovecraftian property. Arkham Horror is still one of my favorite games I own and mixing that with the exploration style of the Resident Evil boardgames looks like an absolute blast.
Hopefully 2026 is the year I delve back into the world of Lovecraft and The Void Unveiled: Echoes of Arkham looks like the perfect jumping back in point.
APEX CLASH

Apex Clash is a deck building card battle game for two to four players. Now, deck building games are rare in my collection and a genre I want to get into. The art design is cool and the theme of fighting animals who are modified with elemental powers feels unique so has me hooked just on the premise. It also has three different game modes, so I'd be very interested in seeing how they differ and whether any of the modes would be more friendly for younger players.
It also looks like positioning of cards on the game board can add to strategy and replayability, I spend a lot of money on games and far too many I've only played once so if I'm putting down £100+ on a game then I need to factor in plays per pound in my reasoning. On price though this is one of the cheaper projects so expectations will need to be tempered.
Astromythos

Other than a few drunken D&D livestreams, I've never really delved into the TTRPG genre. Astromythos is based on the 5E platform and is inspired by a mixture of different mythologies (Greek, Nordic) and elevated with a cosmic twist. I own a few D&D sets but have yet to convince anyone to sit down and play them with me as it seems quite a daunting task to newcomers. However, Astromythos looks genuinely jaw dropping in its design and would definitely gather interest whilst sitting on my shelves.
As a relatively low-priced project, I'm eager to back this one and start my journey into the world of Dungeon Mastery and storytelling. As a man who loves to spin a yarn, I’d love to give most TTRPG’s ago, but I can’t resist the art and design of this one.
If you have any other suggestions for TTRPG’s I'd love to hear them.
Terrorscape 2

Horror is my favorite genre of absolutely every media type, and Terrorscape 2 looks to embody the themes of some of my favorite horror properties, Predator, Alien, Dead by Daylight, etc.
Playing a game where survivors try to sneak around and complete objectives all the time being stealthily stalked by a bloodthirsty killer is almost the perfect game for me. With one player playing the benevolent killer and up to four other players trying to survive, all whilst a monolith of a dice tower shields each side from seeing what the other side is up to it sounds both exciting and stressful.
The ruleset seems fairly easy to learn and derivative of games already in my collection, so it should be an easy table for a game night. It also just looks impressive and fun, so it should be an easy sell to bring it out on a Saturday night with the family.
I’ve been following this one for a long time now and funds permitting this is a definite back for me.
Berserk: The Board Game

Now, Berserk is one of my all-time favorite properties and inspired Dark Souls, one of my favorite videogame series. Weirdly, this games promotion on social media was my introduction to Gamefound and board game crowdfunding in general.
Berserk is a cooperative story action game with a range of fantastic looking miniatures and beautifully designed artwork which i can’t wait to make the jewel in the crown of my game collection. Take Guts on an adventure through either a persistent campaign or singular encounters and upgrade your deck of action cards along the way whilst battling demons and bosses. Action card upgrades even have upgrade paths, so you are constantly evolving your characters skill set and the narrative unfolds through activating scenario cards as you play.
On the higher price scale of projects, this one is a must for me. It’s a statement piece, a game I could table and enjoy for weeks at a time and well it’s Berserk!
