Game Therapy UK returns with all-star comedy fundraiser

Game Therapy UK returns with another evening of stand-up, silliness and serious purpose, as its All-Star Comedy Fundraiser heads back to The Comedy Store in London’s Leicester Square this April. The event brings together a packed line-up of comedians for a night celebrating laughter, community, and the positive impact games can have beyond the tabletop.

A Night of Comedy for a Serious Cause

Taking place on 28 April 2026, the fundraiser features performances from Mark Thomas, Cally Beaton, Nick Helm, Shazia Mirza, Matt Richardson and Steve Best, with Gary Colman hosting as MC. The line-up promises a fast-paced evening of comedy in support of Game Therapy UK’s ongoing charitable work.

The organisation uses structured play and games-based approaches to support mental health and wellbeing, helping people facing challenges such as social isolation, trauma recovery and anxiety. Its work highlights how shared play can create supportive spaces where communication and confidence can grow.

Games, Laughter and Community Spirit

While comedy is the headline attraction, the event sits firmly within a wider gaming and community-focused ethos. Game Therapy UK has long used tabletop roleplaying experiences in its programmes, encouraging participants to build stories together, explore identity, and develop social connections through collaborative play.

Beyond roleplaying systems, the wider tabletop hobby also reflects these same principles of shared storytelling and interaction. Party games such as Just One encourage cooperation and communication through word association, while social deduction titles like Coup or The Resistance: Avalon focus on reading people and navigating group dynamics. Even lighter games such as Exploding Kittens or Sushi Go! demonstrate how quickly games can break down social barriers and spark conversation in an accessible way.

Set against the backdrop of The Comedy Store, the event benefits from an intimate West End venue that has hosted some of the biggest names in stand-up comedy. It provides the perfect setting for a night built around shared energy and connection.

From Tabletop Roleplay to the Stage

Game Therapy UK’s work is rooted in the idea that games can support wellbeing in meaningful ways. Through tabletop roleplaying and structured group activities, the charity works with young people, neurodivergent adults, veterans and individuals recovering from trauma or addiction.

These sessions often use collaborative storytelling systems inspired by tabletop roleplaying games, helping participants build confidence, explore identity and develop communication skills in a safe environment. The fundraiser helps support and expand these programmes.

Final Thoughts

With a strong line-up and a clear sense of purpose, the 2026 All-Star Comedy Fundraiser continues Game Therapy UK’s tradition of turning a night of entertainment into something more impactful.

Whether attending for the comedians, the cause, or the shared atmosphere of laughter, the event is a reminder that games and play remain powerful tools for connection.
