Disney Lorcana news from the Lorecast: upcoming sets and future releases

Colorful, animated scene of a Sully, Mike, and Boo in a monster costume in a dynamic, jungle-like setting with vibrant swirls.

As usually happens during each special Lorecast, the Ravensburger team releases a few details for sets planned far ahead in the future together with the more consistent details about the next  upcoming sets together. The last stream on the 14th of April was not different and some of the details provided on future set were quite exciting thus we thought of summarising them in a dedicate newspost in case anyone missed them.

Attack of the Vine! and new set rotation

The 13th Set of Disney Lorcana, “Attack of the Vine!” will release on the 24th of July with pre-release on the 17th. The set promises to be full of fun references and puns right from its “100% Organic Panic”, and it cannot be otherwise considering it will feature Characters from Monster&Co including the amazing “Mike Wazowski, Well-Rounded Entertainer”. The first card of this set we saw during the Lorecast is a great 1-cost Amber Character that can increase a Character Lore by 1 for a cost of 2 Ink. Not a bad ability for a Common card! “Sulley, The New Boss” on the other hand is  a pretty sturdy Bodyguard but he also has the ability to bring back a Character card from the discard when played. Although his cost is a bit on the high end, I can see a lot of value in playing him to recycle your key cards.
“Boo, Energetic Child” is likely the most interesting cards we have seen so far from Monster&Co. As a 3-cost Character she has very low stats (0 strength and 1 Willpower) but the terrifying ability to banish a character with a strength of 3 of less when she challenges them (and without taking damage). Considering Boo has also Rush I can clearly see why this ability has been named “Kid-tastrophe!”

Attack of the Vine! Will also mark the first set of Disney Lorcana after the second rotation. As a remind, when the 13th set releases in July, all cards from set 5 to 8 will not be legal in Constructed format unless they have been re-printed in set 9 to 13. Ravensburger mentioned previously they are not going to make another set like Fabled with a higher quantity of re-prints but we will need to wait a bit longer to understand if there will still be some re-printed cards being released within this set.

Last set of 2026 planned and next Illumineer's Quest

Hyperia city will be the 14th set of Disney Lorcana and it is planned to release in Q4 2026. At the moment, the only information we have on the set is that it will feature the movie Coco for the first time. We also need to consider that the name of the set is pretty evocative as it feels like it links into to the “Hyperion Studio”,  the Los Angeles avenue where Mickey Mouse and Snow White and the seven dwarfs were produced. For the fans of the story, the Disney brothers moved their Studio from the original Kingswell Avenue location to 2719 Hyperion in Los Angeles in January 1926, and named it “The Walt Disney Studio”. The location was changed again later as the need for more space to increase production forced the team to move site again to Burbank.

While we will need to wait longer to know more about Hyperia city, we already know that in October 2026 we will also get the next Illumineer's Quest, “The Great Hunny Rescue”. In this new stand-alone game, Players will need to “team up” to weed out the threat to the Realm of Lorcana and rescue Winnie the Pooh. The artwork for this Ilumineer's Quest seems quite impressive and it feels the game will be very similar to the most recent one, Palace Heist, in terms of packaging design and components. I enjoyed the Illumineer's Quest series quite a lot thus I cannot wait to see the next one!

What's waiting for us in 2027?

With the end of 2026 on sight, Ravensburger wanted to make sure all the fans of this TCG know the game will keep pressing onward and that there are big plans waiting for us in 2027. At the moment, the only thing we know is that the first set of 2027 will see the 2020 movie “Onward” joining Disney Lorcana. This movie is one of my all time favourite and I think it will fit very well into the Lorcana theme and style.

I cannot wait to see the Characters and the cards that the team will come-up with but, most important, I really hope they will make an action card for all the spells used in the movie as I cannot wait to  play cards based on “Boombastia” or “Magnora Gantuan” and see if I can complete my Quest!
