Battlefront Miniatures have just released the following announcement, updating their British forces for their World War III 1/100th scale Team Yankee series:
“Inside our new British book for World War III: Team Yankee, not only will you find familiar favourites, but we’ve also added a host of brand-new equipment-including Challenger 2 tanks and new uparmoured Warrior infantry fighting vehicle options, their units and formations, FV432 Bulldog uparmoured variants, a Royal Marines Command Company, a Parachute Company new artillery options, and new helicopters, as well as and new background”
They also feature their Challenger 2 tank. Challenger 2 has proved itself extremely battle worthy in the Ukraine with its emphasis on crew safety and facilities as well as firepower and anti-drone abilities. (more so, ironically, than its potential replacement Challenger 3!)
“Our first feature formation is also a new plastic kit, the powerful Challenger 2 main battle tank. The Challenger 2 is designed as a highly accurate and versatile vehicle, focusing on firepower and protection. The Challenger 2 has a 120mm rifled gun and is known for its robust armour, which has been credited with its survival in combat. It 120mm rifled gun is a further improvement over the 120mm L11 found in the Challenger 1 and Chieftain tanks. The 120mm L30A1 gun is much longer with greater baseline armour penetration, with is further enhanced by full stabilisation, and sophisticated fire-control system. It also has Dorchester composite armour (Armour 18 against HEAT weapons), the next generation on from the Chobham of the Challenger 1.
The protection of the Challenger 2 could be further increases with the addition of Combat Armour Modules (CAM).”
Details of these and the other updated British formations can be found on the Battlefront website here.
I’d like to think that World War III as a far away concept but amid an uncertain world I note that one scenario quoted is a 2nd Falklands War!
