Twin Suns is the three-to-four-player way to play Star Wars Unlimited; a chaotic and refreshingly different experience compared to the standard two-player format, complete with its own unique deckbuilding rules. Each deck consists of 80 cards, features two leaders, and cannot include more than one copy of a card. As a format, it’s akin to something like Magic: The Gathering’s Commander, and because of these deckbuilding rules, you can create some truly wild and crazy decks.
As a format, it hasn’t really been supported to its fullest extent by FFG so far, but that’s about to change. This May, four new preconstructed Twin Suns decks are being released, meaning you can jump into the format without owning any other Star Wars Unlimited products. Each deck contains unique cards that will only appear in that pack, along with two leaders designed to work together and built around a specific theme.
These four new preconstructed decks have a prequel and Clone Wars theme, which probably means we might get some original trilogy Twin Suns decks next, hopefully. Aggressive Negotiations is the Anakin and Padmé deck, Master and Apprentice is the Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress deck, Improvised Tactics features Rex and Ahsoka Tano, and finally, Blood Brothers features Maul and Savage Opress.
I’m really hyped for the launch of these four decks and am looking forward to being able to play Twin Suns straight out of the box. Going forward, I’m hoping to use them as a fun way to introduce Star Wars Unlimited to my friends who don’t already play it.
