Missed out on the first wave of Phasmophobia: The Board Game Deluxe Edition? Good news! The fan favourite collector's version has officially returned for pre-order after disappearing almost as quickly as it arrived when orders first opened last October.
The tabletop adaptation of the hugely popular co-op horror game has clearly struck a chord with fans, and demand for the premium edition proved far higher than expected. Now, publisher Lost In Cult has reopened pre-orders, giving ghost hunters another shot at securing a copy before it eventually heads into production.
A second chance!
When pre-orders originally launched, the Deluxe Edition sold out in no time. Rather than leaving fans empty-handed, Lost In Cult has announced another opportunity to grab the premium version while additional copies are being prepared.
Ghost hunting hits the table!
If you've played the video game, you'll feel right at home here. Designed for one to four players, Phasmophobia: The Board Game recreates the tense investigations that made the original such a multiplayer hit. Players explore haunted locations, gather evidence, identify the ghost lurking inside, and hopefully escape before things spiral out of control.
Just like its digital counterpart, every investigation is about balancing risk and reward. Do you keep searching for one final piece of evidence, or make a run for the exit before your sanity completely disappears? That's a decision every ghost-hunting team will have to make!
Familiar equighost-huntings!
One of the biggest draws of the adaptation is how closely it mirrors the original game. Iconic ghost hunting equipment like the Spirit Box, Tarot Cards, cursed possessions, and evidence-gathering tools all make the jump from screen. There are 24 different ghost profiles, unique behaviour mechanics, hallucination events, and modular room tiles that allow players to recreate familiar house layouts or build entirely new investigations that should give each session plenty of variety, especially if you're planning regular game nights with the same group.
What's in the Deluxe Edition?
The Standard Edition already packs in plenty of content, but the Deluxe Edition takes things a step further. Collectors can expect upgraded glow-in-the-dark components, premium finishes across several cards and dice, extra ghost standees, exclusive Polaroid-style artwork, a behind-the-scenes booklet exploring the creation of the Phasmophobia video game, and several presentation upgrades that make the whole package feel more like a display piece than a standard board game. For fans who enjoy collecting special editions, it's definitely the version that stands out on the shelf!
Built with the developers!
Unlike many licensed adaptations, this isn't simply inspired by the video game. Phasmophobia: The Board Game has been created through an official collaboration between Kinetic Games and Lost In Cult, with artwork from illustrator Jamie Flack helping recreate the atmosphere of the original. Familiar locations, ghost types, equipment, and investigation mechanics have all been carefully translated into a tabletop experience while still feeling like a proper board game rather than a direct copy of the video game.
That close partnership should be reassuring for longtime fans hoping for an authentic adaptation.
A big year for Phasmophobia!
The board game is just one part of the growing Phasmophobia franchise.
Since launching in Early Access in 2020, the co-operative horror game has become one of the biggest names in multiplayer horror, selling millions of copies across PC and consoles while continuing to receive regular gameplay updates and new content. Its mix of teamwork, suspense, and unpredictable ghost encounters has helped build an incredibly dedicated community. Bringing that experience to the tabletop feels like a natural next step, especially for groups that already enjoy gathering around the table for co-operative games.
Worth keeping an eye on!
Whether you're a dedicated Phasmophobia fan or simply enjoy tense co-operative board games, this relaunch gives players another opportunity to pick up the Deluxe Edition after its impressive first sellout.
If history repeats itself, this latest batch may not stay available forever. For collectors especially, it could be worth locking in a pre-order before the ghosts disappear once again!
