Fans of Middle‑earth tabletop gaming have plenty to celebrate this week with the unveiling of a bold new The Lord of the Rings‑themed dice strategy game set to release later this year by publisher Office Dog!
What we know so far
Announced at this year’s GAMA Expo tabletop industry event, the game - titled The Lord of the Rings: Circle of Conflict - puts players in command of the epic struggle between the forces of Good and Evil. In this two‑ to four‑player game, you will manage dice to represent the shifting fortunes of Middle‑earth’s armies, as they race to control the fate of the One Ring.
Circle of Conflict emphasizes strategic dice management and asymmetric gameplay, inviting you to simultaneously command the armies of both the Free Peoples and the Shadow forces as you clash in an epic struggle for Middle-earth. With iconic characters and locations from Tolkien’s world, every game lets you relive familiar battles and storylines in a fresh, hands-on, and interactive way.
Designed for ages 14 and up with an approximate 60‑minute playtime, the game is slated to hit retail on 6 November 2026, priced around £42.99 GBP.
The popularity of LOTR-themed tabletop games has only grown in recent years. Games like The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick-Taking Game and The Two Towers: Trick-Taking Game. By combining easy-to-learn mechanics with iconic characters and stories, these games have introduced a whole new generation to Middle‑earth, making dice and card games a staple for both veteran and casual players alike.
