Maestro Media brings back six games of ’90s nostalgia!

Grab your cereal bowl and fluff up that beanbag – The Disney Afternoon is coming back, and this time, it’s hitting the tabletop. Maestro Media has teamed up with Disney to create The Disney Afternoon Collection, a nostalgia-packed board game project that’s ready to take fans straight back to those glorious after-school hours of the ’90s.

Before you go clearing space on your game shelf, though – there’s a twist. Maestro Media is taking the crowdfunding route, launching the collection on Kickstarter this fall. That’s right: even with Disney magic behind it, they’re letting fans get first dibs (and exclusive goodies) through a backer campaign.

So what exactly is The Disney Afternoon Collection? Think of it as a six-in-one celebration of your favourite shows from the golden era of Disney TV animation – we’re talking DuckTales, Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, and more. Each of the six games in the box is complete and distinct, with its own mechanics, components, and challenges.

Speaking of packaging… this is where Maestro Media’s creativity really shines. Every game in the collection comes in a VHS-style box that looks straight out of your childhood video shelf. Yep – faux plastic casing, vibrant artwork, the whole nostalgic deal. Inside, you’ll find double-sided acrylic standees of your favourite Disney Afternoon heroes and villains, ready to leap off the table and into action.

Maestro Media is also launching this alongside their brand-new “Rewind” gaming system – a modular framework designed to bring iconic pop culture worlds to life on the tabletop. The Disney Afternoon Collection will be the debut title in this new system, and if it takes off, it sounds like we could see even more beloved franchises getting the same nostalgic treatment. (Fingers crossed for a Saturday Morning sequel line, right?)

As for gameplay, expect something quick to learn and fast to play. Maestro Media promises a streamlined rulebook so players can jump right into the fun – no hours of reading before you get to roll dice or rescue anyone. You’ll be able to draft familiar heroes and villains, tackle changing objectives, and replay each game for fresh, TV-style “episodes.”

And of course, because this is a Kickstarter campaign, there’ll be crowdfunding exclusives – bonus content, unlockable stretch goals, and plenty of surprises for backers who hop in early.

The Disney Afternoon was the ultimate comfort block for an entire generation, and this project feels like a love letter to that era – mixing nostalgia, collectibles, and solid tabletop design. Whether you grew up racing home to watch Darkwing Duck save St. Canard or you just love a bit of Disney flair in your game nights, this one’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.

So grab your snacks, dust off those VHS memories, and get ready to hit rewind.
