The tabletop adaptation of Company of Heroes is gearing up for another crowdfunding run, with Bad Crow Games set to relaunch the base game alongside a brand-new expansion.
Having kicked off on March 24th, the campaign will give players another shot at picking up the core game, while also introducing the new Desert Warfare expansion.
Back to the front lines
Like its RTS counterpart, the Company of Heroes Board Game focuses on unit management, resource control, and fighting over key points on the map. It’s less about reinventing the genre and more about delivering a solid, tactile version of what fans already enjoy digitally.
The new Desert Warfare expansion shifts the setting to North Africa, bringing with it harsh conditions and a heavier focus on tank battles. Meanwhile, the base game continues to cover more traditional European theatres, offering a broader mix of scenarios.
Extras for early backers

Players who follow the campaign before launch and then pledge will unlock the Africa Air Support Pack, which adds aircraft units to complement the desert setting.
As with previous campaigns, there’s also an emphasis on expanding the experience over time, with additional content available for those looking to go deeper into the system.
A familiar formula that works
While Company of Heroes doesn’t stray far from the RTS blueprint, that’s part of its appeal. Tech progression, unit upgrades, and strategic positioning all carry over well into the board game format, giving it a strong identity without overcomplicating things.
For fans of the video game - or anyone after a more hands-on WW2 strategy experience - this new campaign looks like a solid opportunity to jump in or expand an existing collection.
