Cole Wehrle has officially lifted the lid on what’s next for Arcs, confirming three new expansions are on the way - bringing extra players, new systems, and plenty of underhanded gameplay.
The announcement came via a recent blog post, with all three expansions expected to feature in a spring crowdfunding campaign from Wehrle’s studio Buried Giant.
A big boost for the base game
The first expansion, Lost Vaults and Fated Leaders, plugs directly into the core game and adds a mix of modular content. That includes a new court deck with 30+ cards, fresh leaders, and “Fated Leaders” that introduce lighter, more streamlined abilities pulled from the campaign mode.
One of the bigger additions is the Lost Vaults system, which brings new map elements and event dice into play - essentially letting players build more varied, semi-randomised setups each game.
It also finally introduces a fifth player option. Wehrle has said this was always part of the plan, but didn’t make the original release. To support the extra player, the expansion adds new action cards with a drafting system designed to keep the game from tipping too far into chaos.
Campaign mode gets two expansions
Campaign players aren’t being left out either. Two additional expansions - Beyond the Reach and Halls of Power - are aimed squarely at expanding the narrative side of Arcs.
Beyond the Reach is pitched as the bigger, more ambitious of the two. Expect new plotlines, hidden identities, and a wider range of components that push the game’s scope further outwards.
Halls of Power, meanwhile, is slightly smaller but leans heavily into intrigue. Wehrle describes it as being packed with political manoeuvring and “skullduggery”, suggesting a stronger focus on negotiation, deception, and long-term plotting.
More options, more flexibility
Across all three expansions, the goal seems to be giving players more control over how they shape their games. Modular systems, draft modes, and mix-and-match content should make it easier to tailor each session - whether you want something more straightforward or a full-on campaign experience.
A Kickstarter launch is expected soon, with backers likely getting access to extras like upgraded wooden components and additional add-ons alongside the core expansions.
For a game that already leans into big decisions and shifting alliances, these expansions look set to push Arcs even further - especially if you’re keen on a bit more chaos at the table.
