Board game fans in South Korea have got a pretty good weekend ahead of them! The 2026 Board Game Outing is heading to Heyri Art Village in Paju from September 12 to 13, bringing two days of games, demos and plenty of hands-on activities. Organised by Korea Boardgames alongside the Heyri Pan Festival, the free event will run from 11am to 6pm on both days. There’s no need to register in advance either, so visitors can simply turn up and get stuck into the action!
New games take centre stage!
One of the biggest attractions will be the South Korean debut of two new titles. Gigamic’s Q-series game Qomet will be unveiled at the event, alongside Master Makatsu, a new card game from legendary designer Reiner Knizia. Knizia fans are getting even more to look forward to, as the festival will also host a special exhibition celebrating the designer’s work. With a career spanning hundreds of games, including modern classics such as Tigris & Euphrates and Lost Cities, there’s plenty of board game history to explore.
Try something new!
The event isn't just about looking at games. Visitors will have plenty of opportunities to actually play them! Welcome Meow will be available to try, having recently won the 2026 Children's Board Game Designer Contest. Designed by Kim Seo-jin, the game gives younger players a chance to see what a new homegrown board game can offer. Other games featured at the event include Yogi, HITSTER K-POP and Noisy Running, giving visitors a mixture of styles and experiences to jump between.
More than board games!
There’ll also be activities for anyone who wants to take a break from the tabletop. GraviTrax, the 3D marble run system, will have its own experience zone, while speedcubing activities will give visitors the chance to test their puzzle-solving skills. That makes the Board Game Outing a pretty broad event, with something for families, dedicated gamers and anyone who simply fancies trying something different.
